Aracha Cholitgul was born in 1988 in Bangkok, Thailand, and currently lives and works in Chiang Mai. She seems to have a pattern of relocating every three years, though it's not intentional. Her previous homes were Koh Phangan, Pattaya, and Bangkok. She struggles with a sense of belonging and always finds herself in a place dominated by tourism.
Aracha has had high myopia since she was young (her mother took her to see an eye doctor because she always walked into things.) As a result, blurriness and mental instability interests her. Aracha spends a lot of time thinking about human emotions and the ways of looking at things. Her art practice is a mental study not limited to a particular subject——it's a process where she tries to make sense of her surroundings.
Her artworks carry a sense of intimacy and craftsmanship as she likes touching things with her hands and slowly developing a relationship with her work. She tells personal stories through different mediums, including drawing, painting, writing, object making, installation, photography and moving images.
